Hanka Vášáryová

Napoleon of DS Pelikán, as he was well-known of having unbelievable energy and enthusiasm for work and nobody kept up with his pace. The horses from "VIP" know it very well who all lie down in the morning and pretend that nobody is there. It is also pleasure to muck out with Hanka.

Tomáš Vášáry

The brain of the whole premises. Since we acquired our own premises, he drives a tractor most often, reportedly for time reasons, as he does not need clean himself and put saddles on. He also rides a horse regularly, regularly once a year, and then he is surprised by his weekly convalescence.
Favourite sentence - „Let me alone reading at least for half an hour."

Johanka Vášáryová

the youngest member of the club. She gives the sense and light to every day. She likes riding Richmond, perhaps because she can finally look at that big mirror in the hall. She also enthusiastically shows her Elbička to everybody and starts gradually commanding the whole premises.
Favourite sentence - „Father, milk."

Zdenka Korbelová

The most important link of DS Pelikán. She manages completely everything, from the stable operation, the communication with the Czech Post Office to the youngest Johanka´s stools. We are very happy that she is with us, as without her nothing would work here.
Favourite sentence - „That sink has not learnt yet how to eat those dog granules."

Helena Loukotová

Helča is a totally honest, even self-destroying rider who - even after two hours of riding without stirrups - would not admit on the following day having any pains. Now she has made herself happy and bought a beautiful mare of dreams.

Favourite sentence - „Ah, it will not turn out well."

Alice

The beginning of our working relation was very strange, but after a thorough investigation of her personality it characterises her entirely. It was Friday late afternoon when a phone rang and I heard a job applicant speaking. Circa after a one-minute discussion she asked when she should join us, adding that she is from Ostrava. I tried to be witty and said that tomorrow would already be late. After a while Alice called back saying she was already on train and would be in Benešov at 11:45 p.m. And she really was. It will already be nearly a year. We are glad that she is with us, even if she could spoil our horses less.
Favourite sentence - „It is psycho."

Andrea Bauerová

She was looking for a black horse for so long that finally she bought a brown one. It was a very good choice, and so Andrea is happy nearly every riding. So, nearly every riding until the time when step pirouettes are practiced. Andrea is careful and very ambitious and step pirouettes and jumps will be very easy for her soon.
Favourite sentence - „Perhaps I will never learn it!"

Míša Bohuslávková

She is one of the founding members of DS (Dressage Stable) Pelikán. She has already been with us for a long time so I can write about her that she is ambitious, stubborn, persistent, honest. Also thanks to these characteristics, she grew from a „non-talented" child into a real dressage rider.
Favourite sentence - „She is again stiff to the left."

Julie Matyášová

If Julča were not with us, our days in DS Pelikan would be too much quiet. Julča is a nice crank and talented rider, and if she does not forget about the start of a horse, she is also an excellent stabler.

Favourite sentence - „One cannot sit there, today this horse is somehow uncomfortable again."

Kristýna Vobořilová

The disinfection preparation of the whole premises. A nice, very hard-working lady with the sense of cleanliness. She works for us on an external basis, so we are at least warned in advance of timely cleaning.
Favourite sentence - „There is a mess here again."

Aglesa

Night security of the whole premises. During the day a nice sleeping small bear, at night a guarding lithe beast of prey.

Gaudina

Certainly the most popular member of DS Pelikán. All the day she has a lot to do, from guarding the sign "DS Pelikán", taking over mail, including a part of the post woman´s clothes, guarding the path between the premises and the paddock, biting the man taking out manure up the welcoming and caressing all members. Gaudí has so much to do that she does not have any time to get older. Gaudí is our friend of man.

Kira

As every German shepherd, a very intelligent and faithful dog, carefully guarding whole premises together with Agleska.

Pugy

Has an important function. She informs and warns all dogs and people of imminent danger coming from everywhere. On every Sunday she expects the flyover of balloons with big enthusiasm and we are happy that we do not have to water.

WE WILL MAKE EYES OF CHILDREN SHINE!

We fulfil our dreams, not only sports ones. From the moment when we settled down in Všetice, we can finally realize fully the project being prepared for a long time that is absolute »pro bono« and really helps make eyes of children shine.

The project consists in providing the sports and interest programme to children within state institutions they attend regularly (primary schools, kindergartens, etc.). We realize that the financial possibilities of just kindergartens and primary schools are permanently limited, and therefore regular visits of interest programmes for ensuring healthy physiological and psychical development of children is considerably limited.

ROZSVÍTÍME OČI DĚTEM The programme itself consists of three mutually related activities. In the first case, it concerns understanding the horse as a live being. The first contact of a man with a horse is accompanied by ambivalent feelings, the most often by a mixture of fear and admiration, refusal and desire. As experience is growing, fear disappears gradually, admiration and desire are increasing. In this phase, children listen to the explanation and at the same time they improve all their knowledge by practice (cleaning a horse, feeding a horse, guiding a horse, physiology and needs of a horse). In the second part, children learn, in the form of games and quizzes, something about the social environment of the horse world. For example, the length of the horse’s life, the number of teeth, the mare’s pregnancy, the horse’s development, the relation of the horse and the rider. Understanding the structure and personality of the horse is the basis for the long-term harmonic relation. Of course, the same also applies to interpersonal relations, and just this is the target of the second third. The last third is focused on riding horses. In this phase, the horse is not only an animal for children any more on which they will ride, but a friend accompanying them. The first ride provides strong emotional experience. Shining eyes, smiles, sometimes also slight respect, but always some experience. Also from the perspective of simple psychological description it is certain that already the size of the horse and the possibility to ride and control an animal weighing half a tone provides the idea as well as the feeling of power. The fact that the horse is reserved towards humans and does not try to win their favour by force encourages the child’s activity. On the other hand, the horse reacts defensively to inadequate stimulations, whereby it is a source of corrective experience without being suspected of vindictiveness or malicious intent. These characteristics of the horse support motivation, self-confidence and activities of children. The horse is the individuality in itself, it is a sensitive creature reflecting changes in emotions of children. Hereby the horse influences and regulates the child’s behaviour and affectivity with the feedback. Then the child learns, in a consequence of unambiguousness of the horse’s reactions, natural consequences of his or her behaviour without feeling to be punished.

In 2008, we established cooperation with the Primary School Neveklov and after conducting the programme gradually for all classes of the first level we feel that it is enjoyed and brings real values for all parties involved, i.e. children, teachers, us. The project is a long-term project and we ourselves will actively search for state institutions which we will try to provide help to. For people who do not feel well in classic hotels located in the heart of tourist centres, but at the same time want to get to know well the country visited, culture, monuments and local inhabitants. Všetice is only 40 kilometres far away from the capital city, and so you can get to know this wonderful historical town in detail. You can be accommodated in a quiet and private place and at the same time take a look round one of the most beautiful places in Europe with preserved architecture and monuments whose origin goes back to the 10th century.

Manoir is a part of the yard dealing professionally with horse dressage. It is owned by Hanka and Tomáš Vášárys running the sports club DS (Dressage Stable) Pelikán here. The municipality of Všetice is situated nearly in the bosom of nature and it is a part of the Benešov upland with the boundaries of the rivers of Vltava and Sázava. In its neighbourhood, there are several interesting stately homes (for example, the former seat of Ferdinand d´Este Konopiště) and preserved ancient castles (for example, Český Šternberk). Some other places are also worth visiting: the Slapy dam (indoor swimming pools and relaxation centre), the natural museum „Zlaté baně“ in Jílové near Prague and, of course, we must not forget the capital city itself. Lovers of water sports can go by boat in some section of the river of Sázava.

Either you arrive for a weekend or week, certainly you will not be bored. We will be glad to advise you how to have an interesting stay and what is worth seeing in Prague or the Czech Republic.
